THESIS PROJECT
Sitka Transitional Facility
The Sitka Transitional Facility acts as an inclusive and welcoming space that aids and supports youth transitioning out of the foster care system. This is accomplished through the acquisition of life, career, and financial skills and knowledge, in addition to providing continuing support after leaving the facility. The centre also provides the opportunity for youth to create long-lasting connections with each other and with the community.
There are three core sections of the design, including a counseling and advising area, residential housing, and a community cafe. These areas all work together with the key goal of helping youth and creating strong connections with the community
